A simple name, one syllable, easy to say, easy for your dog to recognise and remember.
No surprise then that it's so popular. In fact, 'Most Popular Dog Names' lists are dominated by these 'short and simple' names.
Does that mean that longer, more difficult to pronounce dog names, should be avoided?
Not at all! If you want to give your dog an unusual, exotic name, I say go for it.
You'll just have to come up with a shorter, more punchy 'call name' - the same way you would use a nickname for a human friend or relative.
The important thing is that the name should suit the dog.
