The American Pitbull Terrier has gained a bad rep as an aggressive dog - even being banned in some countries. Yet Pits are in general friendly dogs with a genuine love of people.

They do, however, have a tendency towards dominance and aggression against other dogs, so proper training and socialization is essential.
